The Jamaican giant galliwasp, occasionally referred to as the sinking galliwasp (Celestus occiduus), is a possible extinct species of lizard. It was widespread throughout Jamaica. The last record of the species was in the middle of the nineteenth century. Its population was decimated and perhaps wiped out by imported predators such as mongooses. The Jamaican giant galliwasp lizard on the island. Its head-body length measured 32 cm.
